MISTAKES WERE MADE
Error & Errata Round-Up
by Steve
So it seems I made some pretty egregious errors in the last couple podcasts. Fortunately, our listeners caught a number of them. First off, what were the errors? Continue reading
Orc Labs Podcast 30 – D&D 5E Challenge Ratings (Follow Up)!
Thanks to all our listeners for their feedback on our first Challenge Ratings podcast! Turns out we were wrong to declare the system unusable… or at least absent. This episode we explore how usable it actually is.
Orc Labs Podcast 26 – D&D 5e Challenge Ratings (or not)…
All about how to calculate CR’s for enemies with PC classes… Oh wait you can’t, because, uhh, potato? If you try you will find yourself sucked into some evil infinite circular logic loop of the DMG. Try it, we dare you! (Oh and if you do figure it out please tell us! Steve hasn’t been the same since.)

Anytime you pick up a game that involves pen & paper, dice, cards with a lot of words on them, or even a video game that grants you the freedom to build a character to your liking, there will come a moment when you have a clear choice. That is, a choice between doing what makes sense thematically (or flavor-wise) and doing what makes sense for your own self-interest. 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons is not perfect. There, I said it. Continue reading
Orc Labs Podcast 24 – DM’ing styles and tales!
This episode we talk about styles of DM’ing a game. Are you more open world or linear quest? I know one thing we all agree on is that the players always ruin everything! Killing vital story NPC’s? Check. Murdering each other? Check. Chasing shiny objects? Check. What’s a DM to do?!

Orc Labs 21 – D&D 5e Dungeon Masters Guide(Just the Beginning)!
Finally we get around to the Dungeon Masters guide… We talk magic items, optional rules, and how to lose an eye. Steve is fond of the critical wounds table (be warned he reads the whole thing). Tom likes the toned down nature of magic items. As usual Matt remains skeptical of everything.
